Abstract
Abstract: The contemporary global workforce increasingly recognizes diversity as a strategic
imperative, fostering innovation, productivity, and employee well-being. However, the discourse
on diversity often overlooks the complex intersectionality of identities, particularly in emerging
economies like India. This paper explores the unique challenges and opportunities associated
with supporting Neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ employees in the Indian workplace. Drawing upon
theoretical frameworks such as the Minority Stress Model and Social Identity Theory, it
elucidates the compounded discrimination and psychological burdens faced by individuals
navigating these intersecting marginalized identities. This paper reviews existing literature,
identifies critical gaps in understanding how identity cues are expressed and interpreted within
this intersectional group, and proposes a mixed-methods research agenda. Specifically, we aim to
investigate the specific dimensions of psychological safety that are most salient for
Neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ individuals, the types of identity cues they employ to signal their
multifaceted selves, and the organizational practices that foster environments where these cues
are affirmed rather than misinterpreted or penalized. Ultimately, this research seeks to provide
actionable insights for creating truly inclusive workplaces that honor the complexity and richness
of neuroqueer identities. This paper underscores the urgent need for a nuanced, intersectional
approach to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) that recognizes and values the rich tapestry of
human experience.
