A Study of Library and Information Services for Agriculture Universities Researchers of Gujarat State

Abstract

India is agricultural base country and a major share of agriculture in our GDP. So agriculture is the most valuable industry in our economy. After independence, the Govt of India gave the first priority to agricultural development due to the scarcity of food and gain. In 1966, ICAR drafted a model of the Agricultural University Act. Under this act, the Government. of India has established some agricultural universities and colleges in India. For the development of the agricultural university library, ICAR has appointed a committee on “The Indo American Agricultural Library Survey and Study” In 1967, under the chairmanship of Dorathi Parkar, ICAR published the suggestions under the title “The ICAR Institute of Agricultural University Library”. Thus, we understand the valuable role of library and information services in agricultural education and research.
